Our specialist care team are excellent at recognising which care service is the right type of care for you or your loved one, therefore they have the experience and education to quickly identify any changes within the health of our residents, as well as knowing when it’s needed to involve a doctor.

What does Nursing Care mean?

Nursing care is for individuals who require 24-hour care and assistance with any medical needs as well as personal care and day-to-day living needs. It is also ideal for those who need intensive rehabilitative care, individuals with physical disabilities or those who have long-term issues with their health.

Anyone who resides with us here at Highwood Care Home has access to all the support needed for personal needs within a residential care home alongside having access to qualified registered general nurses, through both the day and night, meaning that we are the perfect nursing home for those with care needs that require regular attention.

Nursing Care FAQs

The type of nursing care will vary depending on the needs of the individual who is receiving nursing care. However, at Highwood Care Home, we provide a selection of different nursing services such as, medication management and wound care to help with activities of daily living and support with physical disabilities, sensory impairment and mental health conditions. We also coordinate care with other healthcare providers and ensure that our residents always receive the right type of care for them to maintain their wellbeing and health.

  • Chronic health conditions worsen, such as heart disease, diabetes or dementia
  • Difficulty in performing daily living activities such as bathing, dressing and/or grooming
  • Recent falls, hospitalisations, injuries or emergency room visits
  • Significant weight loss or change in appetite
  • Increased forgetfulness or confusion
  • Difficulty complying with treatment plans or managing medication
  • Need for specialised medical care or equipment such as oxygen therapy or wound care.

Our nursing care team is here to assess the level of care that is needed and to offer advice on the most appropriate type of care needed for you or your loved one. It’s highly important when it comes to making a decision about going into a care home that it’s communicated with your loved ones to make sure that the person seeking care is involved as much as possible.

We take this very seriously and we achieve this by making sure adequate staffing levels are provided, nursing staff are trained and qualified, protocols for infection control and medication management are implemented. We also have regular safety audits and assessments which are conducted, meaning we have relevant security measures in place at all times to prevent unauthorised access to protect the safety of our residents.

At Highwood Care Home, we require a 28-day notice period for residents receiving any of our long-term care types and are looking to move out. Our compassionate team are on hand around the clock to support you with your moving transition and answer any further questions you have.
