Life at Highwood

Highwood Care Home is a purpose-built facility located in Bideford, Devon and offers a range of facilities and amenities that ensure residents can fill their days with the things that bring them joy. We are proud of the range of activities we offer our residents and being able to build relationships with them. Whether they enjoy arts & crafts, watching a film, gardening or anything else we have to offer, have something here at Highwood for everybody.

We know that each of our residents has a unique set of interests and hobbies, and encourage them to continue pursuing this during their stay with us. If residents also want to enjoy a hot drink and a catch-up in our cafe or receive a pamper in the hairdressers and salon, Highwood Care Home has all this and more to offer them.

En-suite Bedrooms

All 67 of our bedrooms will be fully equipped to create a comfortable and safe space for each resident. Rooms will feature en-suite bathrooms, modern furnishings, flat-screen televisions, fast internet access and modern nurse call systems. Residents are welcome to personalise their bedroom with items such as picture frames, wall art or small pieces of furniture, to help make it truly like home-away-from-home. Each floor also offers a large corner suite with stunning views toward the River Torridge and Torridge Valley.

Fine Dining

Our expert team of Chefs and kitchen staff will prepare nutritious, home-cooked meals, using local produce where possible and taking into consideration all preferences, dietary requirements, as well as including residents’ favourite dishes on a regular basis. Our home will also feature a private dining room, which is ideal for spending quality time with loved ones and celebrating special occasions.

We are excited to offer new and exciting activities for all of our future residents. There will be an abundance of options available to cater to all interests, from social occasions such as quizzes and games and entertainment visiting the home, to visits around North Devon for a day of exploring.

Private Gardens

Our beautiful landscaped garden will include raised planters, as well as a safe pathway for residents to enjoy a leisurely stroll. Residents who are green-fingered or appreciate being at one with nature will have the opportunity to participate in gardening, and during the warmer months, have the option to dine and socialise outside.

Everybody wants to look their very best and visit a hairdressers & salon so make this happen, so we don’t know why it should be any different with our residents. With a hairdressers and salon on-site and a dedicated team making regular visits, residents can take the time to relax and receive a well-deserved pamper. Whether they want a touch-up or a different style entirely, our salon team will go above and beyond to ensure residents leave with a new sense of confidence.

Holistic Therapy Room

We are excited to announce the opening of our new Holistic Therapy Room within our beautiful care home. This warm and inviting space is designed to offer a variety of relaxing treatments for individuals in our community living with life-limiting illnesses. Our skilled therapists provide services such as massages, reflexology, aromatherapy and other wellbeing therapies, all of which are included in the care home fees.

At our care home, the Café provides an area of tranquil, unlimited hot drinks and a variety of baked goods.
