We had some rather unusual visitors at Highwood Care Home recently, when two lovely donkeys came along to spend time with our residents. It was a morning full of smiles, laughter and plenty of gentle fuss for our four-legged guests.

Some Very Special Visitors

The donkeys were wonderfully calm from the moment they arrived. Their gentle nature put everyone at ease, and residents were soon gathering around to say hello. For many, it was a rare chance to get up close to such lovely animals, and the excitement in the room was easy to see.

Visits like this bring something a little different to the week. They add a touch of surprise to the usual routine and give everyone something new to talk about.

Getting Close and Making Friends

Residents really enjoyed getting close to the donkeys, stroking their soft coats and chatting to them as if they were old friends. Many also had the chance to offer them food, which proved a real highlight. The donkeys took their treats politely, and each moment brought fresh laughter and delight.

Spending time with animals can bring back happy memories of farms, countryside and pets from years gone by. Several residents were reminded of animals they had known, and the donkeys sparked lots of lovely conversations.
